The Beginning
In 1972 R’ Shloime Zalman Bleier was approached by the renowned Tzaddik of Yerushalayim, Rav Chaim Brim zt”l who brought to his attention the plight of many Talmidei Chachamim who were struggling to provide even the most basic necessities for their children. Dozens of ehliche families were quietly suffering in poverty while still continuing their Avodas Hakodesh.
Vision
Rav Chaim Brim zt”l realized that even in instances where assistance was provided, still many needs remained. While many organizations offered vouchers and various goods, many individual voids still needed to be filled. While one family may have access to food support, paying their rent is not accounted for, another family is secure with an apartment, yet clothing costs may still be difficult to cover. Therefore, he surmised, the most effective and respectful method was to give direct financial support enabling the families to care for themselves.
Mishkan Yosef was born.

Today
Mishkan Yosef continues to operate with the same mission and values it was founded upon. Families receive direct financial assistance so they can provide for themselves with dignity, especially during times of greatest strain such as before Yom Tov.
Over the years
From those early years until where Mishkan Yosef is today, the mission statement remained the same, namely, providing financial support for Aniyei Eretz Yisroel so they can fend for themselves all in a discreet, inconspicuous manner. However, while Mishkan Yosef was able to function as a quiet Tzedakah for 40 years, ever-increasing demand rendered the low-laying style impossible. Considering the predicament that so many Talmidei Chachamim in Eretz Yisroel find themselves in, 12 years ago, Mishkan Yosef understood that a new approach was required, hence the Purim Campaign.
The Launch of the Mishkan Yosef Purim Campaign
To expand the scope and reach of Mishkan Yosef’s important relief the plan of children collecting for this important cause while earning amazing prizes was devised. Ever since the initiation of the Purim campaign, Mishkan Yosef has been able to distribute a great deal of assistance to the tune of 1.5 million Shekels a year. These funds mean real positive transformation of the situation of so many families.

The venture that was envisioned more than 30 years ago, has expanded over the years into an organization with a multi-million-dollar budget each year which goes directly to real families in Eretz Yisroel struggling to put food on the table.
